[Lasa] President Correa to receive UIUC Alumni Award

Dear Colleagues,
I am pleased to let you know that the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign has selected President Rafael Vicente Correa Delgado to
receive the 2009 International Alumni Award for Exceptional Achievement.
President Correa took his PhD at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign in 2001 in Economics. His advisor and Director of
thesis was Dr. Werner Baer, a distinguished Latin Americanist
(especially Brazilianist) economist. The title of Dr. Correa's thesis
was "Three Essays on Contemporaneous Latin-American Development." It is
available at the University of Michigan ProQuest Information and
Learning Center.
Congratulations to President Correa on this prestigious award.
