Sorry folks; I was rushing. I did thank everyone individually but forgot to do it again on this message. Thanks very much for your responses. I am not in contact with too many people doing research on Ecuador so it's pretty cool that you are there and to hear the enthusiasm on the other end is icing on the cake.
Best,
D

Subject: [Lasa] IRB responses
Hi everyone,
Someone asked me to post the responses I got; en resumen:
Some people only have to get cleared through their institution's IRB but in my case, I have to inquire with the Ecuadorian IRB. Someone told me that if you are affiliated with a particular institution - like FLACSO - you might get told that all you need is your home institution's IRB approval. So, you could do that. Since I'm not affiliated with an institution in Ecuador, this doesn't apply to me, so I'm going to e-mail Mr. Ortega as per another respondant's reply:
USFQ has the only internationally recognized IRB. You can contact
Fernando Ortega at fortega at usfq.edu.ec
Wish me luck. ; )
Saludos,
Daisy
