I just got back from Teaching and I am in tune with Radio Quito. Supporters of the government (democracy) are confronting the police headquarters in Santo Domingo de los Tsachilas, situation is tense. I am hearing reports that most of the police stations across the nation are operating normally, despite the fact that there are strikes reported in various provinces, the action seems to be in Cuartel number 1 in Quito, the armed forces are not intervening in behalf of the insurrected police.

Radio pública also confirmed this, which is why I posted it. It's also how things appeared to me based on the news I was getting from ECTV. I apologize if I misconstrued the situation.

THIS IS NOT TRUE. HE JUST DID A LIVE TELEPHONE INTERVIEW AND SENT OUT ON PUBLIC TV AND OTHER STATIONS.

PLEASE do not repeat irresponsible rumors.

>From what I can tell from the news, Correa has effectively been kidnapped by the national police within the police hospital. They have also barred reporters from broadcasting what is going on there. Although the army says that it still backs Correa, they don't appear to be intervening.
