[Lasa] Anuncios Estudios Ecuatorianos: Elections & LASA Reception

Hola Ecuatorianistas,

Les escribe para compartir las noticias de la sección de Estudios Ecuatorianos. Estoy ansiosa de ver a muchos/as ecuatorianistas en LASA, pero incluso si no puedes viajar a Barcelona, hay otras formas de involucrarse en nuestra sección.

1)    Elecciones de la sección: ¿Quieres contribuir a la vida de la sección y ayudar a determinar sus prioridades y actividades? Aquí tienes tu oportunidad…

Tenemos que hacer las elecciones por medio de internet antes del Congreso LASA esta vez, para que las nuevas personas puedan comenzar el 1ero de junio. Necesitamos a candidatos/as para 4 puestos:

Presidente

Secretario/Tesorero

Miembros del Consejo Ejecutivo (2 personas)

Todos estos puestos son por un periodo de 2 años. Ya que son muchos puestos que hay que llenar y queremos tener elecciones competitivas, necesitamos a varias personas dispuestas a colaborar. En general, ser miembro de consejo toma una hora o menos de trabajo al mes, Sec-Tes dos horas al mes, y presidente alrededor de 4 horas al mes. La presidencia puede ser compartida por dos personas para minimizar el trabajo que tiene que hacer cada una. Si te interesa postularte, por favor, envíame tu nombre, afiliación, y el puesto que te interesa a erynn.casanova at uc.edu . Creo que todos entendemos que la sección estaba a punto de morir hace un par de años… solo la dedicación y compromiso de sus miembros puede garantizar su supervivencia.

2)    Recepción en LASA 2018: Estamos muy felices de poder compartir esta noticia. Vamos a hacer una recepción en conjunto con las secciones de Colombia y Venezuela durante el Congreso de LASA en Barcelona! El propósito de la recepción combinada es promover las conexiones entre académicos/as de las tres secciones. Luego les vamos a pedir su RSVP, pero por ahora, anoten la fecha y lugar del evento:

jueves, 24 de mayo de 21h00 a 23h00

Nass Beach Club (Plaça del Mar)

Es un restaurant/bar con vista al mar y vamos a ocupar la terraza, así que no te lo quieres perder.

3)    Pre-Congreso en la Universidad de Salamanca: Justo antes del Congreso LASA, la sección de Estudios Ecuatorianos está auspiciando un pre-congreso que tendrá sede en la Universidad de Salamanca el 21 y 22 de mayo. El tema es la revolución ciudadana y sus consecuencias. Pronto estaremos difundiendo más información

4)    Libro nuevo:

Mercedes Prieto (compiladora). El Programa Indigenista Andino, 1951-1973. Las mujeres en los ensambles estatales del desarrollo. Quito: FLACSO/ Lima: IEP.

En el lanzamiento participaron Carmen Diana Deere y Valeria Coronel. Aquí está el link del lanzamiento.

Hello Ecuadorianists,

I’m writing to share the Ecuadorian Studies Section announcements. I’m hoping to see many ecuatorianistas in LASA, but even if you can’t travel to Barcelona, there are other ways to get involved in our section.

1)    Section elections: Do you want to contribute to the life of the section and help determine its priorities and activities? Here is your chance…

We need to have online elections before the LASA Congress this time, so that the new people can begin on June 1st. We need candidates for 4 positions:

            President

            Secretary/Treasurer

            Council Members (2 people)

All of these positions are for a term of 2 years. Since there are many positions to fill and we want to have competitive elections, we need several people who are willing to help out. In general a council member works on section business one hour or less per month, the Sec-Treas about two hours, and the president about 4 hours per month. The presidency can be shared by two people to minimize the work that each one needs to do. If you are interested in running for office, please, send me your name, affiliation, and the position you are interested in to erynn.casanova at uc.edu . I think we all understand that the section was almost dead a couple years ago… only the dedication and commitment of its members can guarantee its survival.

2)    Reception in LASA 2018: We are very happy to share this announcement. We are going to have a joint reception with the Colombia and Venezuela sections during the LASA 2018 Congress! The purpose of a combined reception is to promote connections among scholars in the three sections. Later we will ask you to RSVP, but for now please make a note of the date and location of the event:

Thursday, May 24 from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm

This is a bar/restaurant with a view of the sea, and we will be up on the terrace, so you do not want to miss it.

3)    Pre-Conference at the University of Salamanca: Right before the LASA Congress, the Ecuadorian Studies Section is co-sponsoring a pre-conference, which will be held at the University of Salamanca. The theme of the pre-conference is the citizen’s revolution and its consequences. We will be sending out more information soon.

4)    New Book:
