[Lasa] Question about Chiquita and banana industry

Hi All,

I wondering if anyone knows (fairly precisely) when United Fruit/Chiquita contracted with banana plantations in Ecuador, and if there is any evidence of their presence in the country between 1965 and 1985 -- particularly whether they were contracting with domestic producers during this period, and if there is written evidence of this presence (probably in the form of contracts).  And if no one has evidence....where might one look?

I'm pretty sure the answer is Yes....Chiquita was there and contracting....but need something more concrete than that.
