Dear Dr. Martinez,

I hope this email finds you well. The 2013-2014 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Competition is underway and is currently welcoming applications from scholars interested in teaching or conducting research in Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean. Proposals will be considered from professionals, as well as junior and senior scholars, in a wide variety of disciplines.

I would appreciate it if you could please pass this information on to colleagues in the Ecuadorian Studies LASA Section who may be interested in applying for a Fulbright Award. To address any questions applicants may have about opportunities throughout the Western Hemisphere region, we have scheduled a webinar for Tuesday, March 20, 2012 from 2:00 PM-3:00 PM EDT. Please register<https://www1.gotomeeting.com/register/695023848> today to reserve your participation in the webinar.

Further information on applying can be found on the Core Fulbright Scholar Program<http://www.cies.org/us_scholars/us_awards/> website and I encourage you to review the Catalog of Awards<http://catalog.cies.org/> for specifics on award offerings. We will continue to accept proposals through August 1, 2012.

2013-14 Fulbright opportunities to Ecuador include:

· All Disciplines Award (#3495)- Applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines with any accredited institution or research center in Ecuador to teach, conduct research or a combination of teaching and research (grant length is four months). Award is open to scholars and professionals at all career levels.

· Science and Technology Award (#3496)- Co-sponsored by the National Secretariat for Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT) for candidates to teach and conduct research. Applications in the following disciplines are preferred: Agriculture, Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Geology, and Medical Sciences. Applicants should arrange institutional affiliation with a public university, polytechnic institute, national science research center, or other public institution in Ecuador.

· Social Sciences and Humanities Award (#3497)- Co-sponsored by the National Secretariat for Higher Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (SENESCYT) for candidates to teach and conduct research. Applications are sought in all appropriate disciplines, but applications in Archaeology, Economics, Philosophy, Public Administration, and Sociology are preferred. Applicants should arrange institutional affiliation with a public university, polytechnic institute, national science research center, or other public institution in Ecuador.

Thank you for your assistance with this request. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact CIES. We look forward to receiving applications from scholars and professionals interested in teaching and researching in Latin America, Canada and the Caribbean.

Kind regards,

Katrin
